Consumer Engagement Using Health Data

For the first time, the Health Datapalooza has a track dedicated to the discussion of consumer apps and opportunities to harness liberated health data for an individual’s use. During this track the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONCHIT) will highlight successful ways in which developers have made data useful to patients in managing their health, payments and costs, and other decision making points. Speakers representing providers and payers will address how their organizations are facilitating secure, easy electronic access to personal health information, while creating an environment in which individuals can make sense of that information in order to take action. Speakers representing consumer organizations, patients conveying their own experiences, and other stakeholder groups will describe their methods for engaging members and other constituents to take advantage of access to data. The session will also include demos of innovative consumer apps, alerts regarding important upcoming initiatives, and conclude with an exciting challenge announcement!
